Is there any system out there that would realistically result in every patient being given the same chance for treatment and survival regardless of their economic status?

The delivery system we have now does precisely that.

Someone with a critical illness or injury gets the same treatment regardless of ability to pay. Just because a carrier does not cover a particular med or treatment protocol does not mean the patient cannot seek treatment. Most docs will work with the patient in keeping care affordable without sacrificing quality of care.

The problem is, most patients never bother to ask.
