I can't decide what part of this post by Matthew Holt I like better: his smackdown on the health care system or his smackdown on lazy or downright purposely misleading people who create completely untrue spin around a story, when the facts are right there "on page 2" as Matthew says.
The comments bring up a very basic question though: is health care a right or a privilege?
I feel so uncomfortable with the idea that being wealthy or not entitles you to live or die, and I've never seen any solution offered by someone who claims health care is a "privilege" that doesn't boil down to exactly that outcome.
Is that supposed to be OK, because we're a theoretically capitalist society? Because if you believe this is a pure capitalist society I have some subsidies and reugulations and tax cuts I'd like to introduce you to.
