I don't know, I tend to think that being years and years into a war that the vast majority of Americans don't support might hurt military recruitment a teensy bit more than if we offered universal health care.
Recruitment is already hurting...and that might have a bit more to do with current actual military-related events than the availability or non-availability of universal health care to the general public.
Oh, and I'm sure all the publicity for egregiously poor health care for returning soldiers doesn't at all factor in.
